Il campanello (The Night Bell) is a one-act comic opera by Gaetano Donizetti about the attempts of Enrico, the ex-lover of the bride, to prevent Don Annibale from marrying Serafina.
Enrico repeatedly rings the Don Annibale's night bell in disguising himself many times —a French dandy, a tenor with a lost voice, and a helpless old man—to delay the wedding night and keep Don Annibale from his bed.
